EPT Barcelona

One of the stops that have successfully convinced organizers that they indeed had enormous potential, last season’s EPT Barcelona stop drew a starting field of more than 750 players, setting a new record for the event, and securing its place in the Season 8 schedule. The prize-pool was a record-setting one as well: €3,790,000. The winner, Kent Lundmark of Sweden, bested local player Jose Cortes Lizano to take home a first-place prize worth €825k.

Returned to its traditional end of the summer spot, the Barcelona Main Event is hosted by the Gran Casino in the Arts Hotel, one of the best venues the EPT has ever seen. The EPT Barcelona takes place between August 27 and September 1 and it’s about much more than the Main Event. Players will be able to qualify for the Main Event through one of the live satellites that take place before the big one kicks off. There will be all sorts of side-events as well, featuring smaller prize-pools than the Main Event, but giving players extra chances for some EPT cash.
The Main Event costs €5,300 to enter and it is capped at 1,000 players (thanks to the spacious nature of the venue) which means that the prize-pool has plenty of room to grow.
Players must show their passports to gain access to the casino grounds. The minimum age is 18: no one under 18 will be allowed to play.

As always, the best way to earn a seat in the EPT Barcelona Main Event is online, through PokerStars. Players can buy into the direct access satellites, or if their bankrolls are too meager for such a deed, they can qualify through one of the sub-satellites. The cheapest of these cost only a handful of FPPs to enter.
