Talk about fun in the sun: PokerStars’ Caribbean Adventure is the kind of fun any die-hard poker player appreciates, in the right kind of sun. You can qualify to the event by buying in directly, or by one of the numerous other online options provided by PokerStars.
You can win a cash satellite, an FPP satellite or a tournament leaderboard to qualify. If you are one of the PokerStars Supernova or PlatinumStar VIPs, you’ll be able to buy your way into the tourney with FPPS or W$.
You may also gain access by special VIP invitation (I wouldn’t count on that if I were you though) or by direct buy-in. Just so you know what you’re dealing with here, the direct buy-in would cost you $7,800+$200, so I suppose it’s a very lucrative approach to try to qualify online.
All online PCA packages are worth $12,000 and include the $8,000 buy-in (the actual buy-in and the tourney fee) plus $2,000 for accommodation, $1,000 for travel and other expenses and a further $1,000 for dining.
The PCA Steps represent one of the ways to qualify. These are SNG qualifiers and run according to a pretty intricate schedule. For more on that, check PokerStars’ page. Cash satellites represent the most straightforward qualifying path. Pay your way into one of these low-cost satellites and in two steps you can find yourself in possession of a PCA package. Buy-ins start as low as $2, but don’t be fooled. The more expensive the satellite you register for, the better odds it gives you for a PCA seat.
Tournament leaderboards and FPPs are used in similarly structured qualifiers.
