About Winamax Poker
Winamax Poker is operated by Winamax.com LTD, a London based entity, registered in 1999. The company operates under a license issued by the Greater London Magistrates Court Authority.
Winamax.com is mostly known for its online soccer management game “Le Jeu d’Entraineur” which was pretty much the key to its success. The game was launched in 2000 and proved to be an almost instant hit with the public. Later in 2000, Winamax F1 and Winamax Trader were also launched, following an infusion of investments worth about 2 million Euros.
In 2003, the soccer management game reached the landmark number of 600,000 users. Building on its success, new investors were drawn in to diversify the online portfolio of the company.
Unlike most other online poker sites, which are based in Malta, Gibraltar and you name it, Winamax Poker is based in the UK and it prides itself on the trust and security it offers. Winamax Poker’s finances (deposits and winnings) are handled by Barclays Bank PLC, a financial institution that’s been a partner for Winamax for ages.

Winamax Poker Software
As far as the software is concerned, Winamax Poker has partnered up with the ever so popular Ongame network. Given that a whole bunch of well known poker operations belong to this network, I’ll assume you’re somewhat familiar with their software. The graphics are excellent. 3D-like avatars are featured and the design used is one of the best in the industry. A recent overhaul has turned the Ongame software into one of the industry leaders. It now offers all the regular features people may have grown to expect from a top-notch online poker operation, plus some exciting added features. Direct seating from the lobby is now possible and there’s a downloadable Mac client which offers the same features the Windows one does. A mobile poker client is offered on the site as well.
Multi-table play is possible at no fewer than 12 tables and the tables are resizable to make sure multi-tabling doesn’t become a pain in the neck.
Hand histories and player stats are viewable from within the software, but users can also fetch them in separate downloadable files.
Among the unique features offered by the software, the all-in stats, the real money mobile client and hot key shortcuts are the best.
Winamax Poker Promotions and Best Bonus 2017
The best available Winamax Poker bonus is a 100% match on player deposits, up to a pretty generous $1,000. In order to redeem this bonus, players will have to play in real money cash games and tournaments and generate 10 miles for each bonus dollar. Thus, if you make a $50 deposit, your bonus will be a $50 one and you’ll have it transferred to your player account as soon as you generate 500 miles.
You’ll be able to see how many miles you’ve generated on your “My Account” page.
Your Winamax bonus is valid for 90 days. Make sure you redeem your entire bonus in that time or you’ll have to forfeit it.
As far as promotions go, Winamax Poker has a VIP club, which offers its members special promotions, VIP freerolls and access to the Winamax Gift Shop. VIP members can trade their miles in for various gifts here, including a Maserati GT Coupe.
Winamax Poker also offers its players a poker school and a Grand Prix promotion which is basically a tournament leader board.
Winamax Poker Tournaments 2017
Depending on the type of player that you are, you may find it easier to make money in tournaments than in cash games. Tournaments are generally known to give you a much bigger bang for your money anyway.
Winamax Poker offers a variety of tourneys: freerolls – which cost no real money to enter, live event qualifiers – which offer access to some of the biggest live poker events, and regular MTTs (Multi Table Tournaments) or SNG (Sit’n Gos).
There are special events offered too, which you’ll find under the “Restricted” tab in the tournament lobby.
Winamax also offers you the possibility to take your home games online. You can create private tournaments which are password protected and thus only accessible to players who are invited.
Winamax Poker Special Offers 2017
As most poker rooms from the Ongame Network, Winamax poker is geared towards a European player base. Most of Winamax’s 17-18,000 players are French, so it’s safe to say it is mainly a French poker room.
The “Kill The Pros” promotion lets players match skills with professional players Almira Skripchenko, Anthony Roux, Alexia Portal and Guillaume De La Gorce.
If you manage to get rid of one pro, you earn $100 on the spot. Eliminate two of them, and you’ll pocket $500. Taking out 3 pros will earn you a $2,000 reward.
The Xtreme Tournament is a deep stacked short handed MTT to which the buy-in is only $100+$8. This tourney is one of the flagship events at Winamax. Qualifiers and sub satellites run for it all the time, making it possible for players to earn a seat for small change.
The Grand Tournament is a monthly event which offers a prize-pool of $750,000. Like most of the prestigious live events, the Grand Tournament is a multi-day event. The buy-in is $1,000+$40. Online qualifiers are also available for much less.
Winamax Poker do not accept US players
No poker room from the Ongame network accepts US traffic. The whole network is geared towards European customers and Winamax Poker is no exception. Given the fact that the room is the offspring of a company which primarily operated on the French market, Winamax Poker’s players are predominantly French. They have about 17-18,000 players online in European peak hours, so there’s definitely no shortage there. How much the lack of US players impacts the quality of the competition though is unclear. Winamax is not known for its juicy tables, but then again it’s not known for being particularly tight either.
Winamax Poker support
Winamax Poker has its address displayed on its website. These guys have obviously nothing to hide. You can request support through email and direct phone, and their support staff seems knowledgeable enough to handle anything that may come up. The only problem with the Winamax support is that while it’s available 7 days a week, it cannot be reached 24 hours: you’ll have to contact them between set hours, and that, in this day and age - given the competitive nature of the industry - just won’t cut it.
