Even though the WSOP is the poker event hogging all the press lately, do not be blinded by all the hype surrounding it. Sure, it is indeed the biggest poker event in the world, but that doesn’t mean you have to turn your back on less prestigious events which offer good value too.

Such an event is the ECOOP II (The European Championship of Online Poker) which is hosted online by Titan Poker between May 23rd and June 1st 2008. You won’t have to do any traveling, everything takes place online, with some very generously prize-pooled preliminary events, a fabulous Main Event and with bracelets awarded to all winners. Last time (in December, 2007) the ECOOP gave away $2,500,000 over ten days. This time it’s bound to get much bigger. The total prize-pool will be somewhere around $3,500,000, and regardless of what poker variant you’re good at, you’ll get your chance to show some prowess.

NL Holdem and PL Omaha shall both be featured, and there are no events that offer less than $100,000 in prize-pool. The Main event is a NL Holdem one, with a prize-pool of $1,500,000, and a direct buy-in of $1,000+$60. Entries to different events cost between $100+$9 all the way up to the above named sum.

Direct buy-ins are not the only way to gain access though. There will be a satellite system in place which will also supply players to the virtual tables of the ECOOP. The ECOOP also features a leaderboard, which will eventually award the top 100 players a free seat in a 50,000 freeroll taking place 72 hours after the Main Event.
