Major Promotional Overhaul Looming at PokerStars

On November 1, 2015, PokerStars have come forth with a major announcement regarding the way their VIP scheme, promotions and policies will work beginning with January 1, 2016. Indeed, major changes are in the works, all aimed at enhancing player experience, and obviously, at getting players engaged and retaining existing players better.
The main focus of the overhaul is obviously on the VIP scheme. The FPP-based currency system shall be reworked and the VIP program itself shall be shaped into a Steps-based program. The new loyalty-currency that the site and players will operate with will be called StarsCoin, and despite the none-too-imaginative name, the new currency will be much better, if for no other reason, then for the fact that it will have a constant value, so players will always know exactly how much actual value they possess.

The fact that the VIP Club rewards will be capped at 30% will mostly affect those at the Supernova Elite and Supernova VIP levels, but it will have some impact on lower VIP tiers as well. For instance, those on PlatinumStar level will see some 10% of their rewards evaporate, but GoldStar and BronzeStar players will be left unaffected.
Players on the Supernova and Supernova Elite levels who have obtained or will obtain their statuses in 2015 will be able to retain some advantages: they will have their rewards capped at 45% instead of 30% through 2016.
Policy changes will affect third-party software as well, as the site will be looking to limit the use of various tools. Software used to calculate equities for various hands and then matching them up against other hands will be forbidden as well, while the PokerStars client is running.
Join PokerStars now and take advantage of the current VIP system, before the changes kick in in 2016.
