Pokerstars’ Super Tuesday awards $76,239 prize

With the online poker scene slowly but surely rebounding from the shock of the WSOP, PokerStars’ Super Tuesday managed to attract a field of 394 players last week, a field which combined for a total prize-pool that awarded the winner a $76,239 prize. Player “route 666” was the one who walked away with the lion’s share of the prize money, surviving a final table which included players like Amir Lehavot, Greg Hyman and Jason Gray.
Dan Bozgon busted just short of the final table, in 13th place, taking home $4.925 for his efforts. Other notable eliminations were those of Thayer Rasmussen, who was bounced in 17th and Ronald Grauer who ran out of chips in 18th place.
The final table action kicked off with Ozenc Demir in the chip lead, followed Daniel Drescher and Greg Hyman. Joseph Elpayaa, Todd Terry, Amir Lehavot, route666, Jason Gray and acesover333 rounded up the field.
The very first hand of the final table action drew blood: Joseph Elpayaa went up against Ozenc Demir and Daniel Drescher holding the early advantage with his K,K against Drescher’s A,K on a flop of 5,7,5. The turn and the river fell A,10 though, and Elpayaa’s pocket Ks were cracked.
Acesover333, the short-stack of the final table, was bounced next. Under pressure to chip up, acesover333 pushed all-in on a flop of A,10,8. Ozenc Demir made the call with his pocket 3s and was relieved to see acesover333 turn over pocket Js. The turn and the river bricked out and the field was down to 8.
Jason Gray decided the time was right for him to put his tourney life onto the line under the cover of an A,K he’d picked up. He got called by route666 though who showed pocket Ks for the lead. To add insult to injury, the river brought another K to round route666’s Ks up to a set.
Daniel Drescher then took on Greg Hyman on another do or die hand which eventually resulted in Hyman’s elimination.
Hyman went all-in on his pocket 6s in response to Drescher’s preflop raise. Drescher had A,Q and the stage for the classic coin-flip was set. The flop dealt Hyman’s hopes a crippling blow though as it fell: K,10,A. The turn and the river failed to bail him out and he was eliminated in 6th.
Todd Terry was the next victim. He succumbed in 5th place to Ozenc Demir on a coin flip, after he shoved all-in on J,8 against Demir’s pocket deuces.
Demir himself was the next one to go though, so he couldn’t really enjoy the fruits of his wins for long. Route666 was responsible for Demir’s elimination, thus setting the stage for the heads-up play against Daniel Drescher.
Holding a substantial chip lead on Drescher, route666 went right to work and hammered his edge home.
The final hand of the event saw the money go into the middle on a flop of 7,6,5 rainbow. Route666 had 6,7 in the pocket for two pairs. Drescher had Q,9 and as the river fell 10 and 3 he was done in 2nd for $57,130.
