Jeff Lisandro completes Stud ‘Triple Crown’, wins $2,500 Razz event

Event #44 of the 2009 WSOP, the $2,500 Razz one’s final day started with Jeff Lisandro in prime position to take down his third 2009 WSOP bracelet. He started the day with the most chips and when all the dust had settled, Stud’s ‘Triple Crown’ was complete. Lisandro took down the $188,370 first prize besting players like Kenna James, Michael Craig and Al Barbieri along the way.
13 survivors bellied up to the tables of the $2,500 Razz event on the third day of action. Nikolay Evdakov had a few nice deep runs under his belt which he’d scored prior to this event, but his day ended in 13th place this time. Kenna James’ 7-low dealt him a crippling blow and he dropped the remainder of his chips a few hands later.

Kenna James then proceeded to eject Ville Wahlbeck next and to hit Michael Craig too, leaving him crippled.
William Cole’s 10-low was no match for Warwick Mirzikinian’s 6-5 low, and unfortunately Cole had shoved all in on 6th street.
Al Barbieri was eliminated in 10th place, by Ryan Fisler, but the bubble boy would be Don Zewin, eliminated a massive 3 hours later (Stud games feature 8-player final tables, so the person eliminated in 9th is the official bubble-boy/girl). In the meantime, despite the lack of decisive action, some significant events had taken place. Kenna lost a series of hands to Lisando, as a result of which the majority of his chips were shipped over to Lisandro’s side of the table. The Cowboy was left crippled on a 130,000 chip stack.
After Zewin’s elimination, Lisandro continued where he’d left off: building his stack, at the expense of Ryan Fisler.
The first final table elimination was that of Allen Bari. His Q-low was easy pickings for Fisler’s 9-low.
Steve Diano bit the dust next. He shoved all-in on 4th street against Warwick Mirzikian, holding 4,7,6,4 against the latter’s 8,7,4,5. Mirzikian then proceeded to make an 8-low by 6th street, to send Diano to the rail in 7th place.

His large-stack status a distant memory, Kenna James got all his chips in against Michael Craig next and headed home in 6th place after Craig made a 7-6 low.
Eric Rodawig fell victim to Jeff Lisandro next, and Warwick Mirzikian followed suit to head to the rail in 4th.

Appearing unstoppable, Lisandro took a nice pot off Craig next and then crippled Ryan Fisler. Left with no other choice, Fisler shoved all-in a few hands later and he was eliminated by Michael Craig in 3rd.

Given the size of the stack Lisandro had managed to amass, the heads-up stage was a mere formality. The final hand of the event saw Lisandro’s 10-low ejecting Craig in second place, for the $116,405 prize.
