Starting on January 9th 2009, Ultimate Bet’s Online Poker Championship (UBOC) will be a massive online poker event from every point of view. If you consider yourself a reasonable poker player, you need to be there, because everyone who’s anyone in online poker will be.
Spread over 10 days, the UBOC consists of a series of guaranteed prize-pool events, two of which offer players at least $1 million in prizes.
Something like this probably costs a ton of money and as such it is only reserved to those who are dead serious about poker, right? Wrong. Ultimate Bet definitely loves giving away huge prize pools in high buy-in events, but it’s well aware that’s not the only thing online poker is about. The everyday Joes, the small bankroll recreational players also have gaming needs, and
UB is committed to meeting those needs too. That’s why there will be two UBOC series running: the real deal, and a Mini UBOC series, which will feature the same events for a fraction of the buy-ins. The prize-pools will also be smaller than those in the UBOC itself, but they will be very reasonable indeed and the excitement of the competition will be just as present.
Winning an event like the ones UBOC will feature is always one hell of a rush, but you do realize there can only be a few winners. Like it or not, chances are you won’t win anything. You shouldn’t feel down though, because the simple fact that you play in a UBOC event gives you the chance to become a winner after all. The UBOC World Series of Randomness will award lucky players prizes worth a total of $33,000. The winners determined by a draw will either win a $12,000 WSOP package, or one of 40 seats in a 50 seat WSOP guarantee.
The UBOC will feature 12 events, which include NL Holdem, PL Omaha and PL Holdem. The smallest direct buy-in costs $100+$9, and the biggest (for the 6-handed Championship NLH) $5k+$200.
The series is wrapped up by the UBOC Championship Main Event on 18th of January, which offers a guaranteed prize-pool of $1 million and costs $1k+$50 to enter.
If you cannot afford to buy into any of the events directly, satellite your way into one for much less. There is a gamut of satellites starting from as little as $2+$0.2 running pretty much all the time. Play in the $30+$3 or $100+$9 direct access satellites if you don’t want to mess about with the sub qualifiers.
