$10k ESPN Bounty Shootout – Pat Walsh wins

The $10k ESPN Bounty Shootout featured a final table rich in ‘name’ competitors. Victor Ramdin was there, together with Joe Tehan, Jonathan Duhamel, John Smith, Alex Keating, Matt Woodward and Shane Schlegher. When the dust settled after 13 hours of exhausting final table action, Pat Walsh was the one who remained, picking up the $171,700 top prize.
Players wasted no time tearing into each others’ stacks, and after a mere 30 minutes, two monster-pots developed. The first one went down between Victor Ramdin and John Smith. In a classic perfect hand scenario, Ramdin made a middle set against Smith’s top set. Obviously, none of the two players could get away from the hand and the chips all landed in the middle. The loss left Ramdin seriously crippled and he bowed out a few hands later, courtesy of Jonathan Duhamel, who was glad to pick up his $10k bounty.

The second monster-pot came about between Duhamel and Smith. Smith had pocket Ks against Duhamel’s A,K. Both players shoved all-in before the flop. The flop fell Q,J,J to deny Duhamel the yearned-for ace. The 3 on the turn gave Smith even more hope, but the 10 on the river gave Duhamel a straight, sealing the deal in his favor.
The next elimination was that of Shane Schleger, whose pocket 10s fell to Alex Keating’s pocket Qs two hours later. Woodward followed him to the rail, his A,10 no match for Smith’s K,J.
Duhamel was eventually eliminated by Tehan as well. Having scored 5 eliminations, he took home $58k. Smith too fell victim to the attrition a couple of hours later. His K,10 outmatched by Keating’s Ac, Qc, he picked up $56k, on account of the 4 bounties he picked up. Tehan himself fell soon afterwards.
After Keating’s elimination, the heads-up stage between Eslami and Walsh was set. The final hand of the event saw Walsh’s lowly 9,3o triumph over Eslami’s Jd,7d.
