WSOP-C Horseshoe Hammond – Josh Williams Wins

The final day of the WSOP-C’s Horseshoe Hammond Main Event saw 29 players return to the tables. Although the action started off relatively fast, it soon became clear that day 3 of the event would be an extremely lengthy affair. In the end, it did indeed clock in at more than 18 hours, so it’s safe to consider it a true marathon of a run indeed. Josh Williams was the one who emerged with the win, taking home the $385.9k top prize.
The first victim of the day was Matt Newcombe. It took another elimination for the field to work itself down to the final 3 tables. The player whose departure allowed for the re-arrangement of the seating was Ralph Massey. The action loosened up a bit at that stage, and after a thunder-run of eliminations, the final 10 was reached. It was during this stage that Nick Grippo busted out (in 21st place) together with Adam Cook (20th place) and Christopher Underwood (12th).

Start of the day chip leader Claudia Crawford held on early in the day, but by the time the 10-handed stage was reached, she was one of the short-stacks. She struggled around a bit, and managed to make it all the way to the official final table bubble, where her ship was sunk by Tripp Kirk.
Crawford was the one who pushed all-in holding 5c, 6c. She was called by Kirk, who had an A,Ko in his pocket. The board brought nothing but bricks and Crawford was eliminated, thus inadvertently becoming instrumental in the setting of the final table.
Tripp Kirk then proceeded to make it all the way to 3rd place in the poker tournament. The heads-up battle at the end was between Williams and Ryan Riess. Riess picked up $239k for his second place.
