WPT Mazagan – Giacomo Fundaro Wins

The WPT’s Mazagan Main Event is finally in the books and the winner of it all is Giacomo Fundaro, who managed to outlast a starting field of 146 players, on his way to the $143.2k top prize and the $25k WPT Championship seat.
The final day of the poker tournament began with 6 players returning to the tables. Davidi Kitai had the chip lead at the beginning of the day, and he did indeed have quite a bit to prove, looking to cement his Triple Crown achievement, which he had attained by winning a WPT Celebrity invitational, considered by many lesser than an actual WPT event.
Fundaro began the final table third in chips, but his stack was quite a bit shorter than that of the chip leader.

The first player to bite the dust was none other than Bruno Fitoussi. He first lost a coin-flip to Jeremy Nock, which left him crippled. He then had the final nail put in his tournament coffin by Kitai who swooped in for the kill.
Clement Beauvois may have started the day second in chips, but at one point he lost his edge and shoved all-in several times to take down uncontested pots. That approach kept him in the running for a while, but eventually Fundaro picked up pocket 7s and decided to call him. Beauvois had Q,10o for the coin-flip, and even though there was a Q on the board, there was a 7 as well there which gave the pot to Fundaro. The start of the day chip leader, Davidi Kitai was the next victim. He never really managed to get anything going, and he was ushered out the door by Fundaro and his pocket Ks.
Nock fell 3rd.
The heads-up action between Brunet and Fundaro lasted for about 3 hours.
