2013 WSOP Main Event – a Look Back at the Most Intriguing Hands of Day 1

On Monday, all the first Day 1 flights of the
2013 WSOP Main Event wrapped up, and since, the two Day 2 flights have gone into the books as well, which means the time has never been better to take a look at some of the most hair-raising exploits the first day of action produced.
Arguably, the most interesting pot of Day 1was one which saw no fewer than 5 players put all their chips into the middle. There were two notables involved in the hand too: Mac Sohrabi and Yucel Eminoglu.
The hand came about during the 5th level of the day, with the blinds and 200/400/50. The storm began brewing before the flop, when the player sitting under the gun made a 1.1k raise. This raise turned out to be the fuse in what would become a true bomb of a hand. In response to it, a player sitting in a middle position pushed his entire 11.7k stack into the middle. Sohrabi pushed all-in as well. The player in the button had a shorter stack than Sohrabi and he too made the call. Then, to put the cherry on top of the cake, Eminoglu, who was sitting in the Big Blind, pushed all-in as well, covering all the other players. The player under the gun, responsible for igniting this perfect storm, couldn’t stay out of it either and he snap-called, getting about 40k more into the middle. The hole cards were then revealed, and a medley of potential contenders hit the table. Eminoglu had pocket Js, the player in the button had an A,Ko, the Under-the–gun instigator had 4d, 3d, while Sohrabi had pocket Qs and the guy in middle position had an A,10o.
The board fell 7s,6h,6d,7c,4s and Sohrabi picked up the main pot, leaving some crumbs behind for Eminoglu. The other players were all bounced.
