Poker's "Other" Mystery Man

For years, Sweden's Viktor Blom was poker's and online poker's mystery man. The high stakes player took the poker world by storm, talking on some of the biggest names in the game successfully at Full Tilt Poker and relieving them of hundreds of thousands of dollars a hand, at a time when playing for $1 million pots was not something special or outstanding. Now, with fall upon us, it is time to take a second look at the handful of players who have made the final table of the 2015 WSOP, an elite few known as the November Nine, only to discover yet another mystery man: Israel's Ofer Zvi Stern. Unlike most of his November Nine peers, Stern isn't a known player. Hiding behind dark sunglasses and a hoodie, he is by no means someone who stands out in any way. The 36 year-old already has a minimum prize of $1 million secured and come November, he'll be looking to round that up all the way to $7 million.

Stern isn't looking to draw a whole lot of media attention either: by his own accounts, he's a boring person, who does software and who hasn't had a substantive profile painted of him by the poker media yet. That is not to say that Stern hasn't played a lot before. He has, but he has very little to show for it: until July 14, he only had some $49k in tournament profits to boast, not exactly an exceptional accomplishment for someone ready to jump right onto the biggest stage of the game. Although he is aware that he's up against experienced competition, Stern says that he is confident he'll get further. After all, he's already beaten the odds...
