Last week was certainly a busy one for the world's largest
online poker operation. As it rolled out some new promotions for the month of October and as the WCOOP was wrapping up, news broke that the New Jersey DGE had approved the return of the operation to the US market (or at least to the Garden State nook of it). Also, a record fell at its nosebleed stakes tables: Jens Kyllonen, who became last week's biggest cash game winner, also became the most profitable nosebleed stakes player at PokerStars since 2010.
Kyllonen, who played 5,044 hands spread over 42 different sessions over last week, finished some $265k above the red line. In regards to his record-breaking accomplishment, it has to be noted though that not all nosebleed stakes professionals have allowed to be tracked, so in practice, there may be someone else out there with more profits than Kyllonen over the last 5 years.
Sign up to PokerStars and railbird the nosebleed stakes tables. You can learn plenty from the pros playing there, knowledge that you can put to use at the lower stakes too.
Representing the other end of the spectrum, Viktor Blom dropped some $242.9k, to become the biggest loser of the week. He logged 22 sessions totaling 2,022 hands. He wasn't the only one to end the week with a massive loss: Jean Robert Bellande dropped quite a bit of money too ($132.8k to be exact) as did Jason Mercier and Phil Ivey. Though he ended up on the losers' list with $71.5k dropped, Ivey had had a great start to his week: playing at the PLO tables, he became biggest winner of the day twice in a row, starting with September 24. He lost big during those days, but his wins were even bigger, in the end though, he still managed to lose just a bit more than he won.
Play at PokerStars and take advantage of the superb promotions they're running all the time, not to mention their live event qualifiers.
