2010 WSOPE High Rollers Heads-up Event – Hansen faces Collopy at final table

The final round of the 2010 WSOPE’s High Rollers Heads-up event obviously couldn’t be decided through a single heads-up bout. Instead, the best of three format was adopted, to make sure that the player winning the title would indeed be the best heads-up player the starting field had to offer.
Jim Collopy faced Gus Hansen on Day 3 of the Event in the final heads-up battle, and by the time the action was called – on account of the Main Event which just got underway - the title was still up for grabs.
Both the Great Dane and Collopy had won a round of the best of three up to that moment, tying the series at one apiece.
The day started out with 4 players heading back to the tables of the Empire Casino. Ram Vaswani would take on Jim Collopy, and Gus Hansen would have a showdown with Andrew Feldman.
The Andrew Feldman vs Gus Hansen part of the affair proved to be the simpler one. The online player vs seasoned live pro battle was extremely lop-sided as Feldman never really managed to get anything going. Eventually, he shoved all-in on pocket 10s, only to fall to Hansen’s K,J.
The other matchup, the Collopy vs Vaswani one looked rather one-sided in the beginning as well. Collopy suffered a beating and soon he was fighting for his tournament life. Vaswani dropped a few crucial hands though and the online specialist bounced right back, eventually delivering a knock-out blow on a K,9 vs A,J match-up , by hitting an 10-high straight.
For the first round of the final match-up, Hansen took up right where he’d left off. He swept his opponent off the felt to take the lead.
The second round almost saw Hansen close out the deal, but Collopy managed to bounce back for the win and the tie.
