2010 WSOPE Main Event – Day 3 report

66 players returned to the tables of the Empire Casino in London for the 3rd day of the WSOPE’s Main Event, fully aware of the fact that with the money bubble set for 36th place, 30 of them would still walk away empty-handed.
The fact however that all 66 players were of an outstanding quality and experience, meant that no one would get the jitters as the money bubble approached. As a matter of fact, the bubble had little to no effect on the action itself.
Swedish wonderkid, Victor Blom (whom many suspect to be none other than the mysterious Isildur1) was the one who began the day with the largest stack of chips. Faced with the kind of competition described above, there were little to no guarantees for him though, of any kind. James Mitchell and John Dolan had been two large-stacks too, and they both failed to survive to the end of day 3. Mitchell did make the money, but Dolan didn’t.
Players who had excellent Day 3 runs were Marc Inizan, Dan Fleyshman and Jani Sointula.
The minimum cash was set for £21,206 and players like Nam Le, Dan Shak and JP Kelly would see none of that money either. Daniel Negreanu failed to sail into the cash too. None of the female players reached the money either. Huck Seed busted well short of the first paying position too, when he ran his pocket Ks into a player’s pocket rockets. Rudy Blondeau followed him to the rail too.
Andrew Pantling grabbed the early chip lead, having built up a massive advantage over just about everyone else, still the end of the day chip lead would swing someone else’s way. Ronald Lee had to take a coin-flip for his tournament life at one point during the day, but he got everything going his way from that point on, all the way to the top.
