The 2011 WSOP’s November Nine is on the horizon and the poker world is boiling: various experts cast predictions and everyone is looking to chime in one way or another, throwing his/her 50 cents into the middle. What everyone is hoping for is that unlike in years past, this time skill will be the deciding factor. Everyone is expecting great plays, brilliant decisions and amazing turnarounds.
Whom did the experts find most worthy of being forecast as the winner? While opinions vary, the overwhelming majority of votes seem to be on Phil Collins. Having the benefit of starting with the largest stack, Collins certainly has the skills to put his chips where the experts’ picks are.
Ben Lamb seems to be the biggest wild-card at the table. While some think he’ll be the first one to hit the rail, others say he’ll finish second and still others opine that he’ll win it all. One thing that everyone seems to agree on is that Lamb will indeed be the most active player at the final table. He definitely has the momentum on his side, coming off his best year ever. He has the WSOP Player of the Year title in his pocket, and that will obviously push him to do whatever he feels is necessary to win. According to some though, it is exactly this surplus of confidence that will end up costing Lamb his tournament life.
Another thing that most of the handicappers seem to agree on is that the final table and the heads-up stage of the event will last forever. After all, all those involved know how to play Holdem and the stakes are just too great for people to commit childish mistakes or to lose patience.
There are all sorts of wild predictions floating around too. Some say there won’t be any Phil Collins songs heard at the final table, while others go as far as to predict that Pius Heinz will use a ketchup bottle as a card protector.
