2011 WCOOP – Day 11 Report

The 11th day of the 2011 WCOOP marked the halfway point of the Series. Three more players earned their WCOOP stripes on Day 11, among them two pros yet again. Alexander Debus and Vincent Van Der Fluit were the two pros who got their hands into the WCOOP cookie-jar. For both of them, it was their first time ever.
Debus took down a pretty hefty prize in event #28, the $1k NL Holdem Two-Day event. The event attracted a starting field of 1,146 participants, who combined buy-ins to create a prize-pool of $1,146,000, far surpassing the $600k guarantee.
A whole throng of professional players played in this event; Christina Lindley, Adam Levy, Will Molson and Mark Radoja were all there. Ukraine’s Valentyn Shabelnyk was the one who held the chip lead for quite a while through the stages of the event leading down to the final table. Just before the final table bubble burst though, Lindley took a huge pot off Shabelnyk and clinched the lead.

A player known by the online moniker ‘hithenose’ was the first one to bite the dust at the final table. He picked up $13.7k for his efforts. Christina Lindley was eliminated in 7th, followed by Shabelnyk in 6th.
Eventually, it all came down to a heads-up battle between Debus and TheFan83. No deals were made and Debus emerged with the $206k top prize. TheFan83 walked away with $147k.

Vincent Van Der Fluit’s haul was a significantly smaller one: he won the $320 8-Game event, which saw 632 players belly up to the virtual tables, creating a prize-pool of $189.6k. He made no deals either, and he walked away with $35k, having defeated a player known as ‘ElmanOne’ heads-up. Two other notables made the final table of this event: Elliot Nicholls and Adrienne Rowsome. They finished 5th and 4th respectively. Rowsome took home $13.2k, while Nicholls had to settle for $9.4k.
