Day 16 of the 2011 WCOOP was an extremely productive one in terms of bracelets. No fewer than 5 people have earned their stripes, as numerous ‘name’ players made deep runs in various events, among them Daniel Negreanu and Ryan Daut.
Daut played in the $200 NL Holdem two-day Event, which featured a guaranteed prize-pool of $1 million. As pretty much every single WCOOP event thus far, event #40 put that guarantee to shame too: the 8,332 registrants combined buy-ins to create a $1,666,400 prize-pool.
The second day of action saw only 57 players return to the virtual tables. Daut had a pretty decent-size stack and he managed to carry it right into the heads-up stage, surviving start of the day chip leader moreno007. Eventually, a 2-way deal was reached before Daut and z81ima played down to a winner. Z81ima was the one who walked away with the gold, taking down a $225k prize. Daut was forced to settle for second, pocketing $208k.
Mike Leah made it pretty deep in the event too: he finished 20th for a $3,883 reward.
Daniel Negreanu’s moment of WCOOP glory came in the $300 NL Holdem 2x Chance event. His run wasn’t as deep as he would’ve liked it to be, but finishing 17th out of 2,080 players was still a rather impressive feat from Negreanu who isn’t particularly fond of online play to begin with. The feat earned him a $3.4k reward.
The event was won by z0di@c, who took home a rather impressive $129k haul.
Mike Telker was the one who took down the biggest single prize of the day: a $353.1k chunk of cash in the $1k
NL Holdem 2-Day event.
Telker didn’t make any deals, thus he ended up taking home the biggest possible prize. He bested Joe Whittaker heads-up for the win. Whittaker took home $264,8k.
David Moreira finished 6th in this event, pocketing $77.2k for his efforts.
