With the Main Event looming on the horizon, Day 18 of the 2011 WCOOP returned to its generous ways as far as the number of awarded bracelets was concerned: no fewer than 4 players picked up their WCOOP bling on day 18.
Online poker pro Jason Wheeler was among the winners. He popped his own WCOOP cherry by winning event #49, the $1k NL Holdem 2-day event, taking down his biggest ever online haul.
The event, which offered a guarantee of $600k, drew 1,013 registrants, who combined buy-ins to create a prize-pool of $1,013,000.
Wheeler didn’t make any deals, his focus clearly on taking the entire $182.3k top prize home. He took on EDWARDHOPPER heads-up, and he triumphed after a marathon session of 407 hands.
The second place man took home a hefty haul as well: $131.6k.
CASINO ROYAL was another bracelet winner of the day. He cruised to victory in the $200 NL Holdem 1 Rebuy/1 Addon event, besting tbac1 heads-up. No deals were recorded in this event either. The 1,157 players battled it out for a prize-pool of $505k. The winner took home $87.3k. The runner up pocketed $63.2k. The highest-finishing name player in the event was Peter Turmezey who ended up in 8th place.
PjotrNL won his bracelet in Event #50, the $200 NL Holdem Big Antes event, which offered a guarantee of $350k. He took home $78.4k for his efforts. The guarantee was obliterated in this event as well. The 2,453 players combined buy-ins for a prize-pool of $490k.
The highest finishing ‘name’ player in the event was Kyle Julius, whose 10th place was worth $3,336.
The 4th winner was mnstrkll, who won event #51, the $300 PLO Hi/Lo event. mnstrkll took home a $48.9k haul. He defeated dev209 heads-up. The runner up was rewarded with $35.3k.
