2011 WSOP – Day 10 Wrap-Up

Much of the day 10 spotlight was hogged by the two bracelet winners: Zhukov and Diaz, but there were plenty of other events which saw action too, just kicking off or taking yet another step towards a final conclusion.
Event #13, the $1,500 NL Holdem Shootout one, was one such event. 160 players had initially registered for it, including players like Frank Kassela, David Pham, Vitaly Lunkin and Dan Kelly.
The second day of the event saw 16 players advance out of the second round, holding on to their chances to possibly grab the title, the bracelet and the $369k top prize.
The final stretch of the event will be played as a two-table SNG, which will play right down to a winner.
The second day of the $3k Limit Holdem Event saw around half its initial starting field return to the tables. A major corner was turned on day two: the money bubble. The unfortunate bubble-boy was John Hoppman. Hoppman got his last chips into the middle on pocket 10s against Tyler Bonkowski, who then proceeded to flop quads to send the last of the unpaid players to the rail. The remaining field breathed a sigh of relief before it got back to business. At the end of the day, 18 players remained, among them chip leader Sean Keller, Sorel Mizzi, Victor Ramdin and Jeff Shulman.
One of the events that kicked off on Day 10 of the Series was the $1.5k PL Holdem event. The 765 Day 1 participants blew away last year’s numbers by a respectable margin of 115. Annette Obrestad, Phil Hellmuth, John Racener and Hoyt Corkins were all among the participants.
The 88 survivors of Day 1 will be led into battle by Ronald Lee on Day 2.
126 players bellied up to the tables on Day 1 of the $10k NL 2-7 Lowball World Championship event. This event beat last year’s participant numbers too, by 25 players.
88 players remained to battle it out on Day 2.
