Pokerstars’ Erick Lindgren had sure put together a promising run to complete a spectacular comeback on Day 6 of the Main Event, and pundits were obviously expecting him to dole out more of the same medicine on day 7. He did his best, but on this occasion, his best was not enough. His Main Event run came to a screeching halt in 43rd place, after the following hand: he had about 640k chips left in his stack when he picked up a couple of 4s and decided to put his tournament life onto the line with them. Steve Brecher made the call with pocket Js. The flop fell 7,6,3, giving Lindgren a straight draw and a glimmer of hope. The turn and then the river blanked though and Lingren was eliminated.
Tony Hachem, Joe Hachem’s brother, was eliminated too, although that didn’t overshadow the fact that he walked away with the largest cash of his poker career. He was eliminated by Kenny Shih, whose A,J bested his 8d,7d.
Erika Moutinho was the last woman standing in the event. She made it to the top 30, but failed to advance past that stage.
Andrew Hinrichsen was the one responsible for her elimination. Moutinho’s Qc,10c was bested by Hinrichsen’s A,Qo, when the board blanked out completely. The woman to advance the furthest in the Big Dance went out in 29th place.
JP Kelly looked like he was going to make the
November Nine at one point. He started on a less than impressive stack, but he managed to work it up to 9 million chips. He then dropped most of that to Kenny Shih. Sam Barnhard then swooped in to add insult to injury and relieved Kelly of about half of his remaining stack. Kelly was eventually bounced by Andrej Peteychuk in 26th place.
22 players remained at the end of the day. Phil Collins, Ryan Lenaghan and Ben Lamb will all be back to make a run for the November Nine.
