2011 WSOP – Nick Binger Pockets $5k PLO hi/lo Bracelet

The second bracelet winner of the 39th day of the 2011 WSOP (and the last one of the Series this summer), was Nick Binger, who rose to glory in the $5k PLO hi/lo split event, the last side-event of the Series.
The other bracelet winner of the day was Hassan Anter, who took down the $1,500 NL Holdem Event’s bracelet.
David Bach and Nick Binger were the only two players to return to action on the final day of the $5k PLO hi/lo event. They had already put some of the heads-up stage behind them on the previous day, but they had been prevented from playing down to the title by the 10-level rule.
Binger had a decent chip lead: he had 3.23 million chips to Bach’s 2 million. Bach had already won a WSOP bracelet, while Binger was aiming to secure his first one.
Bach came out swinging in the beginning, and at one point he even managed to clinch the chip lead. His stint at the helm of the action was but a brief one though. He soon lost the initiative and then his stack began to shrink further as Binger swung into action. Binger built up a 3.75 million chips to 1.5 million chips lead before the final hand came about.
After a couple of preflop give and takes, the two players ended up shoving all in with no cards on the board. Binger then tabled Ac,5,3c,3 and Bach had A,K,K,4. The flop brought the 7c,5,2c to give Binger the nut low, together with a flush draw for the high. The 9c on the turn filled his draw and pretty much locked up the entire pot for him. The 5c on the river made it official: Bach was eliminated in second, and Binger pocketed his first ever WSOP bling.
Binger picked up a $397k prize to go with his jewelry.
