Too early thinking about the 2011 WSOP yet? Not if you’re really serious about making your way there on someone else’s money. You wouldn’t believe how early various online poker sites launch their qualifiers. The schedule has already been released as well, so the picture is already as clear as it will ever get in that respect.
Since the WSOP is a living, breathing entity and as such it keeps evolving from year to year, the schedule is always a nice update on what’s been dropped and added. This year, there will be no $25k Six-max event. Despite that however, there will be no fewer than 58 opportunities to grab a bracelet, one more than last year. A new $25k heads-up event was added.
The $50k Players’ Championship event will be part of the Series once more and low buy-in NL Holdem events will run every weekend. Every Saturday, there will be a $1,500
NL Holdem event. Every Sunday, a $1k event will take place to appease the masses.
The Big Dance kicks off on May 31, with the $500 Casino Employees event. This is followed by the $25k Heads-up NL Holdem Championship. The first event which is truly accessible to all comers is the $1,500 Omaha Hi/Lo split 8 or better event, which starts on June 1.
The majority of
2011 WSOP events will feature buy-ins of $1,500. There will be of course $2,500, $3,000 and $5,000 buy-in events for those looking for a heftier prize-pool.
The Main Event is not the only $10k event of the series. The various Championship events will all feature $10k buy-ins. The $50k Players’ Championship event will once again be the largest buy-in tournament, but it has been moved closer to the end of the series, so it will kick off on July 2, and it will run over 5 days.
The Main Event starts on July 7. It is not yet known when the final table will take place.
