2011 WSOPE Event #1 – Day 3 Update

The first event of the 2011 WSOPE is in the books and the winner is the man who started the final day of action with the chip lead: Guillaume Humbert. 12 players returned to the tables at the beginning of the day, among them Phil Hellmuth, who started second in chips and who thus had a great chance to add another bracelet to the 11 he already has in his trophy case.
Roy Finlay was the one who ruled the tables at the beginning of Day 3. He knocked out players left and right, single-handedly setting up the unofficial 9-handed final table. David Benyamine was Finlay’s first victim. Benyamine was followed to the rail by Anton Wigg in 11th place and Bruno Benveniste in 10th, both of them eliminated courtesy of Finlay.
Casey Kastle found the path to the rail in 9th place, followed by Alexander Salabaschew in 8th. Hellmuth had a more than decent stack at the beginning of the day, but he had a bad start, dropping a huge pot to Adrien Allain during the first level. He never managed to regain his composure, and eventually, he faded away in 7th, setting up the official 6-handed final table and giving up hopes for a 12th bracelet.

Marton Czuzcor was the first victim of the final table. He picked up €33k+ for his efforts. He was followed to the rail by Adrian Allain, bounced by the same Azusa Maeda. Matan Krakow followed in 4th place.
Roy Finlay, the start of the day assassin, ran out of steam in 3rd place to set up the heads-up stage between Maeda and Humbert. The rest – as they say - is history.

Event #2, the $1,090 NL Holdem event, saw its second Day 1 flight consumed. Yannick Autaa had the chip lead when the hostilities ceased. 393 players showed up for the event at the beginning of the day.
