328 players returned to the confines of the Hotel Barriere on the 3rd day of the 2011 WSOPE Main Event. These players have all emerged from one of the two day 1 flights. Constant Rijkenberg was the one who finished the day with the largest stack: he managed to accumulate 462k chips.
Jamie Rosen was the one who started the day with the biggest stack of chips. He however failed to capitalize on his advantage, and he busted out during day 2. Day 2 didn’t seem to be particularly kind with the large-stacks: Tommy Vedes had begun the day second in chips, and by the time the dust had settled, he wasn’t to be seen anywhere either. To add insult to injury, Vedes’ birthday was on Monday. He lost the majority of his chips during the very first level of play. From there on out it was all downhill for him.
Rifat Palevic had had a relatively nice day 1 run, but on Day 2 he really caught fire. He put in a dominant performance, which was all the more impressive given the fact that he accomplished the deed at a table where Jake Cody, Johnny Chan, Yevgeniy Timoshenko and Sam Holdem also played. Palevic bullied everyone around for a while, building a large stack in excess of half a million chips. He then ran into a bit of trouble right before the dinner break, courtesy of Vadim Ifergan. After the break, Hoyt Corkins tore into his stack a few times, so by the end of the action, Palevic was down to 353.5k chips. That stack was still a big enough one to position him close to the top of the leader board.
Chris Moorman and Viktor Ramdin had productive Day 2s too. Hoyt Corkins survived on a healthy stack too. Patrick Antonius, Freddy Deeb, Tony G and John Duthie survived too, albeit on lesser stacks.
