2011 WSOPE Main Event – Final Table Set

16 players were initially planned to return to action on the 4th day of the 2011 WSOPE Main Event, but 25 showed up as the previous day had missed its mark regarding the size of the end of the day field.
The final table was set on Day 4, and what a final table it proved to be. Erik Seidel John Duthie, Patrick Antonius and John Eames were all among the contenders together with Tony G. As the field made its way towards the 8-handed final table though, all the above said guys bit the dust, but that didn’t mean that the final table would see a shortage of ‘name’ contenders: Jake Cody, Max Silver, Chris Moorman and Shawn Buchannan all made the final stretch, together with Moritz Kranich and Dermot Blain. Elio Fox finished with the largest stack, having accumulated 3,990,000 chips.

The beginning of the day saw the action kick off at a snail-like pace. Nobody was in a particular hurry to put his tournament life on the line, thus it took quite a bit till the first significant move of the day was consumed: Arnaud Mattern, the start of the day short-stack managed to hit a lucky double-up.
The first elimination of the day was that of Philippe Ktorza. Tony G followed him soon to the rail, followed in turn by Ricardo Tavares and James Schafer. Erik Seidel was then eliminated by Alex Dhovzenko. John Duthie bit the dust too, together with Jeremy Kottler.
Dario Sammartino had a true rollercoaster of a day: he managed to build his stack up to chip-leading status, but he then dropped everything to Max Silver. Over the course of a few hands, all the chips the Italian had managed to collect found their way to Silver’s side of the table. The final table bubble-boy was none other than Patrick Antonius, disposed of by Shawn Buchannan. Buchannan himself will start the final stretch with the shortest stack.
