2012 SCOOP - Day 11 Report

Day 11 of the 2012 SCOOP was a pretty happening one as well. The action lasted for nearly 20 hours, and 9 events went into the books, crowning 9 winners. ‘Name’ players were yet again out in force, and three of the nine awarded titles ended up in the possession of such players. Shawn Buchanan was the top ‘name’ winner, but Paul Berende and Dean Price also walked away with SCOOP titles.
Dean Price rose to the top in event #27-M, the $100 NL Holdem 2-day event, which offered a guarantee of $300k. The poker tournament saw 4,992 players register, coughing up the $109 buy-in, and generating a prize-pool of $499.2k handily putting the initial guarantee of the event to shame.
The winner took home a prize of $78.3k. Price defeated Takezo1980 heads-up. The reward of the runner-up was $58.1k.

Michael Benvenuti and Dan Kelly played in this event too. They finished 77th and 110th respectively, picking up some rather insignificant sums for their efforts.
Paul Berende’s win came in the $10 NL Holdem 2-day event, which offered a guarantee of $100k. Berende took the top spot after he bested vondaa heads-up. The winner’s share of the action was $20.8k. The runner-up took home $16.3k. The total prize-pool generated by the registrants in the event exceeded the $192k mark. There weren’t any deals made at the top here, nor were there any ‘name’ players finishing anywhere near the top.

Shawn Buchanan’s win came in the $2k Razz event, which featured a guarantee of $100k. Only 81 players registered for this event due to the sizeable buy-in, but they contributed enough to put the guarantee to shame. A prize-pool of $162k resulted, the winner’s share of which was a handsome $44.1k. Buchanan was the one who walked away with the dough, having bested ‘sulbystar’ heads-up. David Sonelyn played in the event too: he finished 3rd for $22.6k.
