After his Day 2 event win, Viktor Blom scored yet another win on Day 3. Several other high-profile players came close to taking down a SCOOP title of their own: Daniel Negreanu and Scott Seiver finished in second place in two other events and Bertrand Grospellier finished 3rd in the one in which Negreanu almost made it to the top.
Blom’s newest SCOOP win came in the $500 NL Holdem 6-Max two-day event, which featured rebuys and a guarantee of $400k. Blom had a field of 46 to face at the beginning of the second day of action. Although he did not have the largest stack at the start of the hostilities, Blom wasn’t doing badly at all: he was sitting in 3rd place. For about two hours, the start of the day chip leader (a player known as ‘johnxfleming’ managed to hold on to the lead. During the third hour though, Blom came out swinging and he soon became the first player to shoot past the 1 million chip mark.
By the time the final table was reached, Blom had a firm grip on the situation. Eventually, it all came down to the heads-up stage, where Blom bested ‘Ruxandescu’, taking down the $160k top prize and the title.
The event which saw both Daniel Negreanu and Bertrand Grospellier shine, was the $1k NL 5-Card Draw event. After ElkY busted out in 3rd place, picking up a prize of $11.7k, Negreanu made it to the heads-up stage, where he eventually succumbed to ‘Maestro Shao’. Negreanu picked up $15.3k for his efforts, while the winner took home $22.8k.
Scott Seiver finished runner-up in the $670 NL Holdem Heads-up event, where he eventually fell to a player known as ‘shurgar’, picking up $51.1k for his efforts.
