2012 SCOOP – Day 9 Report

Day 9 was definitely a big day for the 2012 SCOOP. Due to a fortunate turn of scheduling, no fewer than 15 players would earn their SCOOP titles this day. Several ‘name’ players were well-positioned to grab titles and indeed, there were quite a few high profile faces among the winners. The winner of last September’s WCOOP High Roller, Ankush Mandavia was one of the fresh SCOOP title-holders. He was joined in the winners’ circle by Ariel Celestino, Mayu Roca and Nicholas Chouity. Viktor Blom and Shaun Deeb, both of them looking for their 3rd SCOOP title this year, didn’t make the cut this time. Blom started the $2k NL Holdem event in 6th place, with 53 players remaining in action. Despite his decently-sized stack, he failed to make waves in this one as he faded away in 20th place. Matt Marafioti, Matt Stout and Vanessa Selbst were also among the early high profile victims of the day.

Shaun Deeb – who was sitting in 5th place at the beginning of the day – made it a little further than the above said players: he ran out of steam in 16th place. Ivan Demidov made it all the way to 11th. Bryn Kenney was among those who made the final table. He finished the event in 8th place, picking up $35.1k for his efforts. There weren’t any deals at the top, so the eventual winner, SUNDAYKING, picked up the full $293.2k share of the winner. He bested Brian England heads-up. England picked up $211.1k for his efforts.

Ariel Celestino won the $25 NL Holdem event (#20-L of the Series). The winner’s share was a handsome $55k in this one. Mayu Roca’s win came in the $1k Mixed NL Holdem/PLO event, in which he bested none other than Justin Bonomo heads-up. Roca picked up an $83.6k prize, while Bonomo had to settle for a $62.1k payday. Mandavia won the $2k NL Holdem 4-max event, picking up a $106,3k prize after a 5-way deal at the top.
