There were 5 events ongoing on day 10 of the
2012 WSOP, of which only one managed to play down to a winner, although two others have reached their respective final tables. The event which ended up awarding the gold bracelet was event #10, the $5k Seven Card Stud one, in which John Monnette rose to the top. Monnette disposed of quite a few illustrious opponents on his way to the title.
One of the events which managed to play down to a final table was event #9, the $1.5k NL Holdem Re-Entry event. 33 players showed up on Tuesday, all aiming to make it at least to the final table. Jonathan Duhamel was among the contestants, together with Ari Engel, Paul Wasicka and Scott Seiver.
Brian Rast was the one responsible for Jonathan Duhamel’s elimination: he bounced the 2012 Main Event champ together with another player after his A,Qo triumphed over Duhamel’s K,J and the other guy’s pocket 10s.
Later on, Ryan Olisar pulled off a similar move, taking down the biggest pot of the day at the end of it.
Event #10 saw 16 players return to its tables, and when things were all said and done, it was Monnette who stood triumphant, bracelet in hand and prize-money in his pocket. There was no shortage of name opponents for Monnette either. Among the 16 who were there at the start of the action were players like Mike Sexton, Jeff Lisandro, Bryn Kenney and Eugene Katchalov.
Kenney bit the dust in 7th place, at the hands of Huu Vinh. Vinh made it all the way to the heads-up stage of the event, where he fell to the eventual winner, the only bracelet winner of the day, John Monnette. Monnette picked up a $190.8k prize to go with his newfangled jewelry.
The $1.5k PLO event (#11) managed to play down to a final table as well. The other two events which saw action on Day 10 were the $1.5k Limit Holdem event and the $10k NL Holdem heads-up event.
