Day 13 of the
2012 WSOP was a productive one: two players earned bracelets and Phil Hellmuth made it past the first day of the $2.5k Seven Card Stud event. The Brat may be the bracelet record holder, but he is still in search of his first non-Holdem bracelet and as always – he’s considered one of the favorites whenever he’s not eliminated.
The first bracelet of the day was awarded by event #14, the $1,500 NL Holdem Shootout one. The winner was Brandon Schaefer who survived three days of action and a starting field of 1,138 players to grab his WSOP gold. Schaefer bested Jonathan Cohen heads-up for the win. The winner’s share of the action was a massive $311.1k, while the runner-up picked up $192.5k for his efforts.
The other bracelet-crowned event of the day was event #15, the $5k Seven Card Stud hi/lo spit 8-or better event. 19 players returned to action on the final day of this event, with Adam Friedman leading the way. Friedman managed to preserve his advantage all the way to the top, despite the fact that there were quite a few major snags littering his path to glory: Phil Ivey and Phil Hellmuth played too, as did John Monnette and Eli Elezra.
Todd Brunson was the player who made it to the heads-up stage with Friedman. The winner’s share of the loot was $269k.
Event #16, the $1.5k NL Holdem 6-handed one, saw 1,604 players return to tables on its second day. Nick Maimone had the chip lead at the beginning of the day, but Matt Matros soon took over.
The list of name pros who bit the dust during the day was truly impressive: Matt Hawrilenko, Viktor Blom, Steve Zolotow, Kathy Liebert, Adam Junglen and Tristan Wade were all among the victims. At the end of the day, 9 players remained. Robert Muzzatti has the largest stack at the final table.
The other two events which saw action on day 13 were the $10k PL Holdem and the $2.5k Seven Card Razz ones.
