Two more bracelets found their owners on day 16 of the 2012 WSOP. There was plenty of action outside the two bracelet-awarding events too though: two other events played down to their respective final tables and two new events kicked off.
Event #19, the massively popular $1.5k NL Holdem one, was the first one to play down to a winner. 19 players returned to the action at the beginning of the day, each and every one of them with his eyes on the prize. It took only about 10 minutes though for the hopes of one of the contestants to be dashed for good: Jean-Paul Delay busted out, opening the trickle of eliminations that would eventually lead up to the heads-up bout between Cliff Goldkin and Kenii Nguyen. At the end of it all, it was Goldkin who picked up the goods, adding $559k to his first WSOP bracelet.
Event #20, the $5k
Limit Holdem one, saw the second bracelet find its way to the pocket of its owner. Having garnered a much smaller initial starting field than event #19, event #20 featured a top prize of $206.7k. 17 players aspired to the top spot at the beginning of the day, among them quite a few high profile entries: Jeff Shulman was there, together with Terrence Chan and Matt Glantz. Chan finished 12th, but Glantz and Shulman proved to be much more resilient. Glantz ended up in 6th place, taking down a $39.2k prize, while Shulman made it all the way to 3rd, for $92.5k. The winner was Benjamin Scholl, who defeated Andrew Prock heads-up.
Event #21, the $1k NL Holdem event, managed to play down to a final table, after 222 players showed up at the beginning of its second day. Jamie Armstrong finished the day with the largest stack.
Event #22, the $2.5k 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball one, was the second one to reach its final stretch. David Baker finished the day with the largest stack in this one.
