2012 WSOP – Day 26 Report

Day 26 of the 2012 WSOP was an especially stingy one bracelets-wise: it awarded a single bracelet, in the $3k NL Holdem Shootout, which managed to play down to a winner. Antonio Esfandiari played in the event and all eyes were on him naturally. He didn’t disappoint, although he failed to win his second bracelet. Eventually, he ended up in 3rd place, taking home a handsome $151.6k for his efforts. Jeremiah Fitzpatrick and Craig McCorkell made it to the heads-up stage of the action. McCorkell was the one who came out on top, after his 8d, 5d got the better of his opponent’s 5,2o. The winner’s share of the loot was a massive $368.5k, while the runner-up pocketed $228.2k.
Joe Tehan was part of the final 10 too: he finished in 9th place for a $29.2k reward.

27 players returned to the tables in event #37, the $2.5k Eight-Game Mix. The plan was obviously to play down to a winner, but it wasn’t meant to be: after a long hard day of green felt hostilities, two players were still in contention: Greg Mueller and David Baker. They were the two who remained standing and who will return on day 27 to decide the winner.
Kevin Calenzo was the one who finished the day with the largest cash: he collected $106.5k for his 3rd place.
Donnacha O’Dea and Chris Viox played too: they finished 5th and 8th respectively.

The $1.5k NL Holdem event (#38) saw 227 players return to the tables. 10 levels of action went into the day, at the end of which only 21 players remained. Jeffrey Manza was the one who managed to build the largest stack going into what will probably be the last day of the event.
The $10k PLO event drew a starting field of 293 players. 88 remained at the end of the day.

The 2.5k Limit Holdem Six-handed event saw 302 players belly up to its tables. 101 players remained, with Vincent Gironda leading the way.
