2012 WSOP – Day 27 Report

Friday saw the 27th day of the 2012 WSOP go into the books. Two bracelets were awarded that day too, one of them ending up in David Baker’s possession, while the other one went to Dung Nguyen, the winner of the $1.5k NL Holdem event (#38).
Event #37, the $3k 8-Game Mix one, saw just two players return to the green felt for the heads-up stage of the poker tournament. The two players were Greg Mueller and David Baker, and they were basically all that was left over from the previous day’s action, when the event was supposed to play down to a winner.
Mueller had quite a decent chip lead over his opponent when the action kicked off: he had 2.6 million chips, while Baker was down to about 920k. Mueller had a great start too, further expanding his lead before things turned around in Baker’s favor. The final hand of a confrontation was a Razz one in which Baker made a sixty-five against Mueller’s Q-low. The winner picked up $271.3k to go with his bracelet. Second place was rewarded with a $167.6k prize.

The other event which resulted in a bracelet being awarded, was event #38, the $1.5k NL Holdem one. 21 players returned to action, as Jeff Manza led the way with a stack of 1.3 million chips. Dung Nguyen was close behind though and in the end, it was he who managed to clinch the title. Manza only made it to 8th place, collecting $58.8k for his efforts.
The heads-up stage of the event saw Nguyen lock horns with Theo Tran. The top spot was worth $607.2k, while Tran picked up $377.5k for his efforts.

The $10k PLO event saw the field play down to the final 13. Jason Mercier was among those who managed to make it past the day. The second day of the event saw 36 players return. The money bubble burst on day two too, leaving all 13 survivors well in the money.
