2012 WSOP – Day 32 Report

Day 32 of the
2012 WSOP saw the final table set in the $50k Poker Players Championship event. There was plenty of action in other events too: event #46, the $2.5k NL Holdem one, played right down to a winner, becoming the only event of the day in which a bracelet was awarded. The other events which saw action on day 32 played further down towards their conclusions.
The $50k Poker Player Championship saw 26 players return to the tables. Although the field had already been trimmed down seriously, there were still 10 more spots to go before the money-bubble would burst. Viktor Blom was the player with the largest stack at the beginning of the day. Phil Hellmuth, John Monnette, Robert Mizrachi and scores of other similar-caliber pros busted out before the money bubble, heading to the rail with nothing to show for their efforts and for their $50k buy-ins.
Ben Yu was the unfortunate bubble-boy: his elimination sent the remainder of the field into the money, safe from having to go home with the proverbial wooden spoon.
The battle continued though, and David Oppenheim’s elimination in 9th place set the official final table. Michael Mizrachi finished the day with the largest stack, as start of the day chip leader Viktor Blom failed to make the final table. Others who will return for more action are Stephen Chidwick, Andy Bloch, Bill Chen and Luke Schwartz.
Event #46, the $2.5k NL Holdem one, was responsible for the only bracelet-winner of the day. Joey Weissman was the one who picked up the goods in this one, pocketing the $684.6k top prize with the bracelet.
Weissman defeated Jeremy Quehen heads-up for the win. Quehen earned $429.5k for his efforts. Fernando Brito finished 3rd for a $282.6k reward.
The $1.5k PLO Hi/Lo 8 or better event played on towards its conclusion. Of the 141 players who showed up at the beginning of the day, only 10 remained.
