Day 46 of the 2012 WSOP saw the World Series of Poker National Championship play down to a winner. The Main Event rolled on as well with its third Day 2 flight.
8 players returned to the tables of the World Series of Poker National Championship, set on playing down to a winner. The final lineup was by no means a feeble one: David Baker was part of it, together with Amanda Musumeci and Sam Stein.
Musumeci found herself in trouble early in the day. She got crippled first and then got her remaining chips into the middle on a pair of 9s only to be called by an opponent with K,K. The board didn’t help and she was out. Sam Stein followed her to the rail shortly. His last hand had him all-in with a J,10 against Nikolas Stone’s K,Q. No help came on the board for either hand involved and Stein was done in 7th place.
The field managed to get rid of the third ‘name’ competitor too, shortly after Stein’s elimination: David Baker was sent to the rail when his K,J fell to Huy Nguyen’s pocket 8s on a board which did give Baker a pair of Ks but which also gave his opponent a set of 8s.
Ryan Eriquezzo was the one who emerged with the win in the end: he defeated Nikolas Stone heads-up. The winner took down a $416k prize, while the runner-up had to settle for $257.1k.
Huy Nguyen ended up in 3rd place for a $186.2k prize.
Day 2c of the
WSOP Main Event saw 2,300 players return to the tables. At the end of the day, only 900 remained standing. Joseph Cheong was among the survivors, together with Jake Cody, who finished with a more than healthy stack.
Michael Hack finished the day with the largest stack, though he failed to catch up with Gaelle Baumann whose 505,800 chips had his stack of 457k handily topped.
