2012 WSOP Main Event – Final Table Reached

The 2012 WSOP has reached its last day (at least until November). Day 7 of the Main Event saw the final table set. Jesse Sylvia was the one who clinched the chip lead at the end of the hostilities: he built a stack of 43,875,000 chips.
When the action kicked off on Day 7, there were still two female players among the 27 who returned to play down to the final table. Gaelle Baumann and Elisabeth Hille kept the hope alive that a woman may yet emerge as the
WSOP Main Event winner, but that hope was dashed when they were both eliminated back-to-back. Hille was the one bounced in 11th place. She was followed to the rail by Baumann, who thus became the final table bubble-girl.
The first victim of the day was Nico Naag, who came into the dash for the final table with the shortest stack. He pushed his chips into the middle on an A,J and quickly found a caller who had A,Q.
Paul Volpe was another short stack at the beginning of day 7. He too was forced to commit early, but his pocket Js gave him a much-needed double up and he was saved at least for a while.
Start of the day chip leader Marc Ladouceur fell in 13th place, after he lost a massive pot to Andras Koroknai on an A,K vs A,K match-up. Koroknai made a flush in that hand for the win. Ladouceur’s final hand saw him lose out to Greg Merson after the latter flopped seven trips with an A kicker against his set of 4s. He couldn’t get away from the perfect hand and he was done in 13th.
Scott Abrams fell in 12th, followed by Elisabeth Hille in 11th, sent to the rail by Koroknai, whose pocket 7s bested her Ah, Qh.
Koroknai was the one responsible for Baumann’s elimination too. The final hand of the day saw his A,Jo best Baumann’s A,9o.
