2013 PokerStars WCOOP Main Event – PlayinWasted Wins

On Tuesday, the WCOOP’s massive Main Event – which had kicked off on Sunday – finally played down to a winner. After a 3-way deal at the top of the pops, the top prize of $1.49 million went to Germany’s PlayinWasted, who led a trio of Germans to the top of the biggest online poker event of the year. Everything concerning the event was impressive: a total of 2,133 players coughed up the $5.2k buy-in, creating a prize-pool of $10.66 million.
After the first day of action, 296 players remained standing. Set for 243rd place, the money bubble burst on the second day of the event. Nick Rampone was the unfortunate bubble-boy.
With the bubble out of the way, the action once again sped up, claiming the tournament lives of scores of notables, like Anton Wigg and PokerStars pro Jason Mercier, who was bounced in 144th place.

Humberto Brenes and Mickey Petersen were two of the players who continued to carry the PokerStars flag, until they too were sent packing. Brenes bit the dust in 69th place, while Petersen lasted a tad longer, heading to the rail in 63rd.

When the official, 9-handed final table was reached, it became obvious that Germany would most likely end up with the title, since 4 of the remaining players were German. Stefan Tobias Kolossow was the first victim of the home stretch though, and that left 3 players in the German contingent. Shane Schleger was involved in the action too, on a decent stack no less. He was eventually bounced in 6th place. In the end, 3 Germans remained and they struck a deal which left each of them with a 7-figure haul. SwissCantMis finished 3rd, for $1.1 million, Daniel Drescher was second, picking up $$1.41 million for his efforts and PlayinWasted won as said above.
Open an account at PokerStars today and join the tournament tables, maybe even the next WCOOP Main Event.
