PokerStars’ SCOOP is incredibly popular not just with the masses, but with the “name” crowd as well. After all, the high buy-in tiers do indeed offer these high-profile players great opportunities to do battle for properly sized prize-pools. Countless such pros have bellied up to the virtual tables of the SCOOP this year, and a number of them managed to walk away with SCOOP titles too.
Benny Spindler was one of these players. His SCOOP moment of glory came on Monday, when he won the high version of event #1, the $2.1k NL Holdem 6-max event, which offered an initial guarantee of $1 million.
848 players paid up the buy-in though, and thus the resulting prize-pool shot past the $1.69 million mark. Spindler made no deals on his way to the top. He took home $301k after he defeated “€urop€an” heads-up. The share of the runner-up was $223k. Two more players finished in 6-figures: “bbbbb33”, who took down $169.6k for his 3rd place, and JC Alvarado, who was rewarded with $118.7k for his 4th spot.
Sami Kelopuro tasted success on Tuesday, in the high version of event #3, the $530
NL Holdem 6-max event with Re-buys. This event offered a $500k guarantee, but like pretty much all the SCOOP events thus far, it left its initial guarantee in the dust: the 432 participants combined buy-ins for a $699k prize-pool.
Kelopuro bested Sander Berndsen heads-up to claim the $143.2k top prize. Berndsen’s share of the prize-pool was $104.8k. Chris Moorman played in this event too, and he made it all the way to 6th place.
Ana Marquez’s win came in the $1,050 NL Holdem Turbo event with Re-buys (event #5 – high). She bested a starting field of 437 players to claim the $255k top prize.
