2013 WSOP – Brandon Wong Wins Event #50

Earlier today, the 50th bracelet of the 2013 WSOP found its rightful owner in Brandon Wong, the winner of the $2.5k 10-game Mix 6-handed event, #50 of this year’s Series. 20 players returned to the tables at the beginning of the day to play down to a winner and that’s exactly what they accomplished. At the end of it all, Brandon Wong was the one who raised his arms in victory, showing off the bracelet, his pockets $220k heavier than before.
At the beginning of the day, there were still a few notables in the field, but as the day wore on, they bit the dust one by one. Konstantin Puchov was one of the early victims of the day: he was bounced in 18th place. Tom McCormick had a better run: he ended up in 14th, and he was followed to the rail in 13th place by Bruno Fitoussi. Greg Raymer, the 2004 WSOP Main Event champion and one of the guys whose victory set the online poker revolution into motion back then, finished 11th.
Mike Vattel fell in 10th followed by Brian Tate in 9th. Tate’s elimination signaled the setting of the unofficial final table of the poker tournament. Daniel Makowsky became the official final table bubble-boy when he got bounced in 7th place in a 2-7 Triple Draw hand.

Loren Klein of the US was the first player to be bounced during the home stretch of the event. He was followed to the sidelines by Scott Abrams and Christopher George, both from the US as well. Philip Sternheimer of the UK was bounced in 3rd place, leaving Sebastian Saffari and Brandon Wong to battle it out heads-up for the title.
The last hand of the event was a NL Holdem one, which saw Wong’s pocket rockets best Saffari’s lowly 8,6o.
