The third and final day of the $2.5k Seven-Card Razz event (#33 of the
2013 WSOP) saw 14 players return to its tables. The stakes were high on Day 3 because everyone knew a winner would emerge at the end of the day. That winner did indeed emerge in the end: Bryan Campanello was the one who grabbed the title and the $178k prize that came with it. David Bach began the day as the chip leader, after he had solidified his spot at the top, having finished with the largest stack both after Day 1 and Day 2.
Tommy Chen was the first one to head to the sidelines on Day 3. He was followed by Sergey Altbregin, Adam Szalay and Joe Alpert. Randy Ohel managed to make it farther in the event, but shortly after the break, he too was forced to admit defeat. He was eliminated in the same hand with Frankie O’Dell and the double elimination burst the official final table bubble too.
Ismael Bojang was the first victim of the final table: Brent Keller was the one who put an end to his
poker tournament life by making an eight-six low.
Rick Fuller followed Bojang to the rail soon. Keller was the one responsible for his elimination too, but he himself would become the next victim, crippled by the eventual winner and then bounced by Ivan Schertzer. Schertzer was then eliminated by Campanello who was apparently just getting warmed up at that stage. The elimination of Sebastian Pauli in 4th place was followed by Jim Wheatley’s in 3rd. The heads-up stage pitted start of the day chip leader Bach against Campanello.
Campanello started the bout with the advantage and he never surrendered the initiative. The last had of the event saw him make an 8-6 low for the win.
