2013 WSOP – Day 2 of Event #15 in the Books

The second day of the $1.5k HORSE event (#15 of the 2013 WSOP) went into the books today, and Mark Klecan was the one who clinched the provisional chip lead, having built up a stack of 518k chips. The event drew a starting field of 862 players on its first day, however on Day 2 only 177 returned to the tables. After the action was done for the day, 21 players remained standing, so it’s safe to assume that a winner will walk away with the bracelet and the $258.9k top prize on day 3.
Besides Klecan, Eddie Blumenthal finished with a nice stack as well. He had 443k chips bagged. Scot Bohlman of the US finished 3rd, with 382k chips. The interesting thing about the trio currently leading the chip-counts is that each and every one of them has finished in the money in WSOP events before, but neither of them has yet managed to grab a bracelet. With only 20 eliminations to go before a winner is appointed however, the chances of one of them remaining standing over everyone else are rather reasonable indeed.

Like most mixed events, the $1.5k HORSE event saw quite a number of “name” competitors belly up to its tables. Although the majority of them were eliminated during the first two days of action, several of them remained in the top 21 to challenge the above said three leaders on day 3. Dan Kelly is one of these players. He survived Day 2, together with David Singer, Frankie O’Dell and James Mackey. Owais Ahmed shall be among those returning for Day 3 as well.
The biggest pot of the tournament thus far was the one taken down by the eventual chip leader on the last hand of the day.
