2013 WSOP – Day 2 of Event #18 is in the Books

The second day of event #18 (the $1k NL Holdem one) of the 2013 WSOP was as action-packed an affair as any.163 players returned to the tables, looking to possibly play down to the official final table. While that objective was not attained, after 10 levels of action, the field did manage to play down to the final 14.
Taylor Paur was the one who managed to build up a massive stack, clinching the chip lead with 1.31 million chips to his name. Paur was the only player to climb above the 1 million chip mark as he built a stack nearly twice as big as that of second place man Alexander Barlow, who had 792k bagged. Adam Sanders had a good day too: he finished 3rd, bagging 605k chips. Obviously, there were several “name” competitors involved in this event too, but the one who stole the headlines was Phil Ivey, who managed a respectable 9th place finish, having a large-enough stack bagged to maintain himself in the hunt for yet another WSOP bracelet. If Ivey were indeed to re-emerge as a top contender in this event, proceeding to take down the title eventually, he would take down his first ever Holdem bling.

Kyle Cartwright finished within the top 10 as well: his 267k chips were just enough to land him in 10th place, right behind Ivey. Nick Binger was one of the players who failed to make it through Day 2: he finished 113th. Men Nguyen did slightly better, making it to 85th place before he ran out of chips. Matt Affleck finished 66th, while Dominik Nitsche made it all the way to 16th, becoming one of the last couple of victims of the day.
