The second day of event #31 of the
2013 WSOP is indeed in the books and it was quite a remarkable day: it saw the re-emergence of a player who has won no fewer than 3 WSOP bracelets back in the late 70s and who grabbed the chip lead going into what is probably going to be the final day of the
poker tournament. Perry Green finished with 491k chips to his name, finishing the $1.5k PLO Hi/Lo Eight or Better event at the top. He was followed by Marco Johnson in the chip counts, with 475k and Loni Harwood, with 444k. If Green goes on to win this one, he will take down his 4th bracelet after a stunning break of 35 years.
A total of 129 players showed up at the tables at the beginning of Day 2, looking to play down to the money bubble first, then past it as deep as humanly possible. At the start of the day, the bubble was just 12 places away, so the field was rather quick to play down to it. The player who went home with the unfortunate bubble-boy honors was David Greene. The action loosened up quite a bit in the wake of the bubble and players like Eoghan O’Dea, Jason Mercier, Jonathan Little and Nick Binger were quick to head to the rail. Allen Cunningham left the event in 44th place. David Sands finished 41st, followed by Matt Giannetti in 35th and Mel Judah in 27th. Jeffrey Lisandro and Leif Force were eliminated as well, in 24th and 23rd places respectively.
At the end of the 10 levels of action which went into the day, only 14 players were left standing. Barry Greenstein survived the day, with 287k chips to his name.
