2013 WSOP – Day 2 of Event #57 is in the Books

The beginning of the second day of the $5k NL Holdem event - #57 of the
2013 WSOP - saw 235 players belly up to its tables. By the end of the day, that number had been reduced to 31, and the player who had the biggest stack bagged was Seth Berger. Berger finished the day with 986k chips as nobody managed to cross into 7-figure territory chips-wise. Philipp Gruissem finished second with 743k.
The first objective of the day was the reaching of the money bubble. Set for 81st place, the bubble would see quite a few players fall outside of the money. Taylor Paur and Maria Ho both busted out before the bubble. They were joined in the camp of those not being able to show anything for their efforts, by Allen Cunningham, Dan O’Brien and Mike Watson.
Eros Nastasi became the official bubble-boy of the event, busting shortly after the dinner break when his pocket 10s lost a coin-flip against an opponent’s A,Ko.
The remaining 81 players all found themselves in the money all of a sudden. The min cash was $9.1k so all survivors could be certain they would actually make a little bit of profit on the side. The action loosened up and “name” players began hitting the rail again in droves. Tobias Reinkemeier was one of the players who fell during this stage of the
poker tournament: he faded way in 77th place. Dani Stern and Dominik Nitsche followed him to the rail.
Eric Baldwin made it all the way to 43rd place, and Phil Laak busted in 41st. Jared Hamby was one of the last victims of the day: his elimination came in 35th place.
Olivier Busquet, Joe Serock and Ravi Raghavan all made the top 10, finishing with healthy stacks.
Like most major online poker operators, Winner Poker offer generous 2013 WSOP qualifiers too.
