Featuring a $1,111 buy-in, the Little One for One Drop was set to be one of the most popular events of this year’s Series. Indeed, no fewer than 1,016 players returned to the tables on the second day of the tournament, looking to advance as far into the money as possible. After 11 levels of action, 67 survivors could tick off that objective, with everyone else left licking their wounds on the sidelines.
Joseph Wilson was the one who finished the day with the largest stack: he had 983k chips bagged at the end of it all.
Like many of the prominent figures of the
2013 WSOP, Wilson is no stranger to large buy-in tournament poker: in fact, in 2011, he even added a cash finish to his WSOP record, by taking down a $3k prize for his 190th place finish in one of the $1.5k
NL Holdem events.
Second in the provisional Day 2 chip counts is Nghi Tran, who finished with 803k chips to his name. Tran played well all through the day and his hyper-aggressive style was indeed properly rewarded in the end.
Roberto Romanello finished 3rd, with 781k chips. Romanello, who is well-known for his
EPT exploits, has been on the hunt for a WSOP title for quite a while now. Day 2 wasn’t particularly kind to him as he was forced to struggle on a rather austere stack for much of the day, but in the end he blew the lid off it, positioning himself excellently for a title run.
Talking about notables in the top ranks: Andrey Pateychuk finished 5th with 552k chips and Roland Israelashvili finished close to the top as well. Mike Sowers and Bryn Kenney were both among the survivors too, although they both finish further down the chip counts.
888 Poker’s online 2013 qualifiers offer excellent value to players through the generously-sized packages they grant to winners.
