2013 WSOP – Day 2 Report

Event #1 of the 2013 WSOP – the $500k Casino Employees one – is in the books and its winner, and the first WSOP champion of 2013, is Chad Holloway. Holloway bested a starting field of 898 players to grab the top spot and the $84.9k prize which came with it. The start of the second day of the event saw 55 players return to the tables, all of them in the money and looking to make as deep a run as possible.
Michael Trivett was the one who had the lead at the beginning of the day but he eventually failed to turn his early advantage into victory. He made the final table though. With Troy Wilcoxon out of the way in 11th place, the money bubble was reached. Vince Petrino was the one whose elimination in 10th place earned him the first final table bubble-boy title of the 2013 WSOP.

The first victim of the final table was Hieu Le, whose 9th place was worth $6.3k. Le was followed to the rail by start of the day chip leader Trivett, who pocketed $8.1k for his efforts.
Tyrone Smith and Sean Small were the next two players to head to the rail. Bobby Rooney’s elimination in 3rd place set up the heads-up stage of the event. At the start of the home stretch, Holloway had a 2-1 chip lead over Allan Kwong and he drove home his advantage, picking up the first bracelet of the Series.

Event #2, the $5k NL Holdem 8-handed event, has played down to its money-bubble as well. Scores of name pros bit the dust, falling outside of the money. The player whose elimination landed everyone else in the money was Lloyd Mandel. Michael Phelps put in a decent run, but he failed to make the money too.

Event #3, the $1k NL Holdem one, saw 1,821 players register through its first two day 1 flights.
