2013 WSOP – Day 3 of Event #29 in the Books

The third day of the $5k HORSE event (#29 of the 2013 WSOP) went into the books a few hours ago and the winner has still not been decided. A total of 4 players remained standing, so there’s still some action to look forward to once the 4th day kicks off. 28 players returned to the tables at the beginning of the day, the survivors of an initial starting field of 161 players. Among the 28 there were quite a few “name” competitors still remaining, like Gus Hansen, Dan Kelly, Todd Brunson, Marcel Luske and Alexander Dovzhenko.
The very first player to bite the dust was Gus Hansen, who fell in 18th place. The Great Dane was followed to the rail by Todd Brunson in 24th place and Jared Jaffe in 20th. David Bach, Marcel Luske and Tom Koral bit the dust as well as the field played down towards the final table.

The final table itself turned out to be quite a sight for sore eyes: it was filled with some of the biggest names in poker, and some of the best mixed games players in the world starting with Greg Mueller, Tom Schneider and Viatcheslav Ortynskiy. The first victim of the home stretch of the event was Konstantin Puchov, who finished 8th, picking up $30.8k for his efforts. 5 more levels of action went into the day after first blood had been drawn at the final table, and during that stretch, several more players were sent to the rail. David Benyamine busted in 7th place, picking up a $40k prize. Adam Friedman and Chris Klodnicki followed him to the rail in 6th and 5th places respectively. Besides Mueller and Ortynskiy, Tom Schneider and Benjamin Scholl made the top 4 too.
