2013 WSOP – Day 3 of Event #55 is in the Books

Event #55, the $50k Poker Players’ Championship saw its 3rd day go into the books a few hours ago. Unlike the other events thus far, event #55 didn’t wrap up on its 3rd day. As a matter of fact, it didn’t even really come close to its final table. A total of 78 players showed up at the beginning of the day, and when the action was called, 26 were left standing.
Don Nuyen finished the day with the most chips to his name: he finished with more than 2 million, being the only player to climb over the 2 million chip mark. Only 7 other players managed to have more than 1 million chips bagged.
David Benyamine, the start of the day chip leader, finished among the large stacks, together with John Hennigan and Jonathan Duhamel.
Mike Wattel finished with a decent stack as well. Others who finished the day on healthy stacks were George Danzer, Huck Seed, Bryn Kenney, Joe Hachem and Greg Mueller.
The story of the day was without a doubt that of Doyle Brunson, who was eliminated by Ofir Mor in a Stud hand. Tex Dolly had a lot of side-bet action going, so many people had their eyes on him. Unfortunately though, he was bounced when his pair of 7s failed to improve, despite the gut-shot straight draw that he had. Mor had Aces-up and that was enough to send Brunson packing.
PokerStars pro Jason Mercier was one of the players with bets against Brunson. He too found the rail on Day 3, together with Jared Bleznick, another “name” player involved in the side bet action against Brunson. Other players who were eliminated were David Oppenheim, Bertrand Grospellier, Paul Volpe and Justin Bonomo.
